During the year that I’ve been building my first business from zero, I have had the opportunity experience a complete immersion into the world of online marketing. It’s apparent that much of what’s worked in the past is now on its way out the door, or at the very least shifting into something completely different. Lets take a look at what Ive learned in 2018 and give you a few tips as a new entrepreneur on how to get ahead in your branding and marketing endeavors. The problem most new entrepreneurs have is how and where to start. Here I plan on addressing this question and giving you a clear path to start you on your way. 1. Just start.
This is the best piece of advice I ever received and it is the most important thing to your development in business and in life. The way I would suggest doing this is by figuring out your favorite platform to use as a consumer and start there. It will come a little bit more naturally and allow you to make content more natively to the platform. 2. Respect the platform.
The way to see results faster is to post content geared toward the platform you are choosing to engage on. For instance, when you are posting on facebook, recognize your audiences mentality of checking in on the world. Present your ads or content in a way that seems like a regular post from a friend. The less out of place your post or ad appears the more likely it is that people will click on your call to action. 3. Respect the audience.
Posting content that is worded in a way that interests you is one of the easiest traps to fall into. Instead of falling victim to this common mistake, think about what your target audience is thinking. If your target is mothers of three and you plan on selling a product, talk about how beneficial it will be to mothers of three. Doing this will ad a personal touch to your ads that is much harder to ignore. 4. Be willing to fail.
At the beginning I was terrified to fail. After all, when you start up you can’t afford to be losing money on inefficient ads, however you can only learn through doing. If you treat each failure as a learning experience you will come out the other side with enough knowledge to make back any loss and then some. Losing is all part of the experience and the sooner you learn to love the game the sooner you will become a success.
